The City of Boise has an ambitious goal – to make the City the most livable community in the nation. Through actions like creating the greenbelt pathway, protecting the foothills open space and preserving historic buildings, Boise is well on its way to achieving that goal. Recently, there has been increasing interest in incorporating sustainability into that livability goal to ensure a lasting environment. Beth Geagan, Management Consultant with Shift Strategies has 30 years experience planing, facilitating and managing projects and has recently found herself at the center of the City’s sustainability efforts. In this interview, Beth discusses her role as the contracted project manager for City of Boise’s sustainability initiative implementation. Our conversation takes a look at the history of sustainability in Boise, the framework for the City’s current sustainability initiative, and the projects that will soon be underway to further Boise’s goal of being the most livable city in the United States.
